So there we are. That’s Bywell weekend done and dusted for another year.

I haven’t been coming up here for that long, but even so, I don’t remember any time when it’s been as windy over the 3 days as it has this year.

The Dougall Memorial then, perhaps the oldest trophy still shot for in DTL. By my reckoning, which involved a quick Google search and a little bit of maths, this year is the 126th time this competition has been held.

Well. That was an interesting day.

The forecast warned us that the wind would be 20mph plus, and it wasn’t lying. My hopes that I might have the best targets of the day came to naught. If they were all over the place yesterday, today wasn’t much better!

Here we are then, Bywell weekend 2022.

Today, the weather finally decided to make us cold and wet. Friday was a close call and we got away with it, but today was steady and persistent rain until lunchtime. Even then, it stayed mizzly until about 5pm.

Well, that’s day 2 done of the Fauxdegla DTL Grand Prix.

This morning was a lot drier than yesterday, but the wind was blowing and pushing some of the left hand targets into the floor.

Day 1 of the Fauxdegla DTL Grand Prix, and it hasn’t gone quite as well as I wanted. I am the architect of my own difficulties, as usual!

3 days, 300 targets, and ideal preparation for Bywell next week.

We had the 3rd Devon DTL Team Selection for 2022 at Bradford Shooting Ground today, and yet again we were absolutely spoilt by the weather. Warm and still, with the odd bit of cloud about to give us a break from the heat for a short while.

The selection process is now well under way to decide the Devon DTL Team for 2022. Today, Two Counties hosted the second of four shoots we use to decide who will go to the South West Inter-counties later in the year, and battle it out for the Team Shield.
